Is this a will?
No. A will is a legal document that must be drafted and executed according to your state's laws. The Final Lantern organizes your information and points your family to where your will lives. We include guidance on when you need a lawyer and what a will actually requires.
Is this a replacement for an attorney?
No. For legal documents, you still need an attorney or a qualified legal service. We are the system that holds the map to all of it and makes sure your family can find what you have already set up.
How secure is my information?
Your account is protected by standard login security, and we give you clear guidance on what to store inside the platform and what to keep elsewhere, such as passwords. We are honest about this: no digital system is unbreakable. The Final Lantern is a structured system for organizing your information, and we tell you plainly which sensitive items are safer stored in a password manager or a physical safe. You are in control of what goes in.
What if I do not have a family?
Many users do not. You can name a close friend, a lawyer, a neighbor, or an executor service as your primary contact. We have guidance for users without family, including how to set up access through an attorney or trusted third party.
What if my wishes change?
Come back and update the section. Most people revisit their system once or twice a year, or any time something significant changes: a move, a marriage, a new account, a new diagnosis.
Do you offer refunds?
Yes. If you start a plan and decide within thirty days that it is not right for you, we will refund you. For the printed book, we also refund within thirty days of delivery.
What happens to my account if I die?
Your primary contact receives access according to the rules you set up. If you have not named anyone, your account remains private and your family will need to work with us through a verification process.
Can my family see my information before I die?
Only if you grant access. You decide when and how much. Some people share everything from day one. Others keep it private until a specific event. You are in control.
Is this covered by any religious tradition?
We work with people of every faith and no faith. The system allows you to record religious preferences for your funeral and medical care, but the platform itself is not built around any particular tradition.
I am a caregiver. Is this for me?
Yes. Many of our users are adult children preparing for a parent's end of life, or a spouse supporting a partner with a serious diagnosis. The Guided Membership was built with caregivers specifically in mind.
Can I use the book without the platform?
Yes. The digital and printed book are standalone products. They do not include platform access. Many people start with the book and later subscribe when they want progress tracking and family access.
Do I have to fill it out all at once?
No, and we recommend against it. Most people take three to six weeks, doing one section at a sitting. This is a system built to be lived with, not completed in a weekend.
